ACT4CAP27 early-stage researcher submits first PhD paper

Within the framework of ACT4CAP27, early-stage researcher Mónica Sartorius Riveiro, PhD Candidate in the Agricultural Economics and Rural Policy Group at Wageningen University & Research, has completed the submission of her first PhD research article.

The manuscript, entitled “Economic Evaluation of Farm Transition Strategies: Analyzing the Net Present Value of income of Buyout, Continuation, and Selling Options for Dutch Dairy Farmers”, has been developed in collaboration with supervisors Jack Peerlings and Roel Jongeneel. This work constitutes the first of four planned contributions to the doctoral thesis and focuses on the comparative economic assessment of alternative farm transition pathways within the Dutch dairy sector, using net present value (NPV) as the analytical framework.

The article has been submitted for peer review to the Journal of Dairy Science. In line with ACT4CAP27 dissemination and scientific exchange activities, the research will be presented at the upcoming EAAE PhD Workshop in Évora, Portugal, in mid June 2026, providing an opportunity for feedback and discussion within the agricultural economics research community.

Mónica is currently developing the second paper of her PhD trajectory.
