WP8 WP Leaders Meeting  | 19 May 2026

The ACT4CAP27 Work Package Leaders met online on 19 May 2026 to review progress across the project and coordinate upcoming activities supporting the delivery of project objectives. Discussions focused on stakeholder engagement, policy-relevant outputs, scenario development, communication activities, model integration, and preparations for future project meetings.

A key topic was the follow-up to the stakeholder engagement event held in April 2026. Partners reviewed the outcomes of the meeting and discussed the process for incorporating stakeholder feedback into ongoing research and analysis activities. The consortium reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a constructive and inclusive stakeholder dialogue while ensuring effective participation in future engagement activities. Preparations are now underway for the next stakeholder meeting, planned for early autumn 2026.

The meeting also addressed the preparation of the project’s upcoming policy brief. Partners assessed potential sources of evidence and explored opportunities to draw on emerging research results and published project outputs. The discussion highlighted the importance of translating scientific findings into policy-relevant insights that can support evidence-based decision-making in the context of future Common Agricultural Policy development.

Communication and dissemination activities were reviewed, including preparations for the next ACT4CAP27 newsletter and website updates. Work package leaders were invited to provide recent developments, achievements, and examples of project activities to support ongoing outreach efforts. The consortium also discussed the development of new visual communication materials that will help explain the contribution of agricultural modelling projects to policy analysis and demonstrate the complementarities between different research initiatives funded under Horizon Europe.

Significant progress was reported on the project’s fast-track scenario activities. Ongoing work includes the refinement of policy scenarios, the integration of additional analytical components, and the continued development of tools that facilitate the linking of models and the analysis of policy impacts. Partners also exchanged updates on biodiversity-related research activities and discussed methodological considerations relevant to trade and sustainability assessments.

An important area of discussion concerned the harmonisation of model outputs and definitions across work packages. Ongoing technical collaboration is improving comparability between modelling approaches through the systematic alignment of products, sectors, and trade classifications. These efforts are expected to strengthen the integration of project results and enhance the robustness of cross-model analysis.

The consortium also reviewed ethical considerations relevant to project implementation. Partners agreed to collect and consolidate any questions related to research ethics, data protection, and emerging analytical methods for discussion with the project’s ethics advisory function. This process will support continued compliance with Horizon Europe requirements and ensure that project activities remain aligned with applicable ethical and regulatory standards.

Looking ahead, preparations have begun for the next ACT4CAP27 General Assembly, which will take place in Berlin in March 2027. The meeting will provide an opportunity for partners to review progress, discuss results, and coordinate the next phase of project activities.
