UNIVERSITA DEGLI STUDI ROMA TRE (UNIROMA3)

Roma Tre University is a young university thought for young people. Founded in 1992, it has rapidly grown both in terms of students and courses offered. Roma Tre University is organized in 13 departments offering Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Postgraduate and Advanced courses, PhDs and Specialisation Schools.

A dynamic, modern and international university that has been immediately identified as the vital lever of the urban development of the capital, within which it is now deeply rooted, contributing in changing the city’s identity with a persevering process of restructuring and re-using abandoned industrial buildings, converting them into factories of knowledge and research.

Among its founding values, Roma Tre assumes the promotion and organization of high-quality international research, the excellence in advanced education as well as in the development and dissemination of knowledge, the environmental protection, the international solidarity, the principles of gender equity and the evaluation and recognition of merit.

Department of Economics

The Department of Economics carries out teaching, research and consulting activities, in collaboration with national and international institutions. Research activities focus on different areas with a strong multidisciplinary approach, including both theoretical and empirical analyses applied to the main topics of the economic debate.

UNIROMA3 participates to the ACT4CAP27 project consortium. In particular, UNIROMA3 contributes to investigate the sustainability dimension of EU food systems in WP1, develop modules for environmental and socio-economic assessment in WP2, enhance GVC representation in WP3 and update database in WP4. UNIROMA3 is also engaged in organizing capacity building activities (WP5) and providing new evidence for future EU policies (WP6). It is also involved in stakeholder engagement and dissemination (WP7) as well as project coordination (WP8).

Luca Salvatici

Luca Salvatici is Full Professor in the Department of Economics and faculty of the Ph.D program in Economics at Roma Tre University. He is the Editor of the NEP Report on International Trade, Associate Editor of the Italian Economic Journal, and participates in the Editorial Board of the journal Economía Agraria y Recursos Naturales. He is member of the International Agricultural Trade Research Consortium, and he has been involved in several research projects both at the European and national level. He has extensive consultancy experience, having completed work for the The World Bank; the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations; the International Food Policy Research Institute; the EU Commission. His most recent publications appear on: Energy Economics; European Review of Agricultural Economics; Journal of Economic Surveys; Review of International Economics; Journal of Global Economic Analysis; Food Policy.

Silvia Nenci

Silvia Nenci is a Professor of Economic Policy at the Department of Economics, Roma Tre University, Italy. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Sapienza University. She has collaborated with national and international institutions, including the Italian Ministry of Economics, the Italian Trade Agency, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Global Development Network, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Bank, and the International Trade Centre. Her research focuses on international trade, trade policy, and global value chains.

Anna Giunta

Anna Giunta is Full Professor of Applied Economics, Department of Economics, Roma Tre University. Member of:  the scientific council of LEAP (Institute for European Analysis and Policy), Luiss, Rome; Consiglio di Reggenza, Bank of Italy, Rome Branch; Comitato per l’etica, IVASS, Rome;  Scientific Committee Centro Europa Ricerche (CER). She is Associate Editor of the Italian Economic Journal and Member of the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of International Business Policy. Her current research interests are: Global Value Chains; Firms’ Organization; Firms’ Internationalization; Firms’ Digitalization; Industrial Policy Evaluation; Italian Economy; Public Procurement for Innovation.

Cristina Vaquero Piñeiro

Cristina Vaquero Piñeiro – a Ph.D. in Economics (Roma Tre University, IT) and Visiting Ph.D. in Geography and Environment (London School of Economics, UK) – is Assistant Professor (RTD-a) in Political Economy at the Department of Economics, Roma Tre University. She is member of the Directive Board of the Italian Association of Applied Agricultural Economics. Her main expertise lies in public policy analysis and agrifood economics, with an emphasis on Geographical Indications, quality labels, wine economics and local development. Her research agenda is focused on the role of place-based interventions in supporting high-quality agrifood productions and boosting rural development at the sub-national level.
