Wageningen university is part of Wageningen University & Research and is the only university in the Netherlands to focus specifically on the theme ‘healthy food and living environment’. WUR’s mission is ‘To explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life’.
The strength of Wageningen University & Research lies in its ability to join the forces of specialised research institutes and the university. It also lies in the combined efforts of the various fields of natural and social sciences. This union of expertise leads to scientific breakthroughs that can quickly be put into practice and be incorporated into education. This is the Wageningen Approach. Collaboration with other parties such as government, business and NGOs is indispensable. This is in line with the Finding Answers Together ambition.
The scientific quality of Wageningen University & Research is affirmed by the prominent position we occupy in international rankings and citation indexes.
Wageningen University (WU) is involved in especially WP2 and WP3. In WP2 WU focuses on developing model modules that both run standalone but that can also be incorporated in the already existing models used in this project (AGEMOD, MAGNET, CAPRI or GLOBIOM). Moreover, in WP3 WU will apply the models to analyse critical urgent societal problems relating to agriculture, environment and food systems.

I am an Associate Professor at Wageningen University, specializing in Agricultural Economics and Rural Policy. In my research I use applied econometric analyses, applied general equilibrium models, and mathematical programming models to address agricultural, environmental, and spatial policy issues. I have a particular focus on land issues, the energy transition, and agri-environmental policy, both within the European Union and in developing countries. I have published in leading agricultural economics journals as well as top interdisciplinary journals. Moreover, I have supervised 16 completed PhD theses and over 150 BSc and MSc theses.
In addition to my research and teaching responsibilities, I have held various leadership roles, including acting head of two chair groups, chair of the Programme Committee for the business and economics programs at Wageningen University, and editor of the European Review of Agricultural Economics. Currently, I serve as the Secretary General of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE).
PhD candidate in the Agricultural Economics and Rural Policy group of Wageningen University.
I started in June 2024 for the Act4CAP project under the supervision of dr Jack Peerlings and dr Roel Jongeneel. In my PhD I am focusing on farm heterogeneity and how it impacts policy effects. In my first paper I develop a simulation model of Dutch dairy farms analysing farmers’ reactions to the complex Dutch nutrient policies and how these policies interact with other policies such as the agri-environmental schemes and the CAP’s first pillar’s direct income payment system.
I did a joint masters in Economic Development and Growth in Lund University, Sweden, and Universidad Carlos III, Spain. Before I started my PhD I worked as a sustainability consultant for PwC.
