As part of ACT4CAP27, the Agri-Food Model Young Researcher Network (AMYRN) aims to support building a network of young researchers – within the ACT4CAP27 partner organisations – that have an interest in using simulation modelling approaches to inform agri-food policies.
Agricultural models such as AGMEMOD, CAPRI, GLOBIOM and MAGNET are frequently used in large-scale land use, biodiversity, climate change and food security assessments for the EU or at global level. It requires specialized knowledge and expertise to operate, maintain and improve these models, which often involves the use of specialistic software (e.g. GAMS and GEMPACK) and processing of large (geo-spatial) datasets.
The AMYRN allows young researchers who are interested in working with one of the ACT4CAP27 models or use other modelling approaches (e.g. econometric, biophysical, etc.) to model EU agri-food systems, to spend 2-3 months at one of the ACT4CAP27 partner institutes and collaborate with ACT4CAP27 model experts.
AMYRN is primarily meant to fund PhDs and early-career postdocs, whose work is already funded by
ACT4CAP27, which means that their research activities are linked to one or more of work package tasks as specified in the ACT4CAP27 workplan.
The exchanges of the AMYRN fellows allow young researchers to obtain practical experience with the various ACT4CAP27 models and helps building the necessary capacity to operate those models in the future.
