14th AIEAA Conference 18–20 June 2025, Pisa, IT

The Italian Association of Agricultural and Applied Economics (AIEAA) is set to host its 14th annual conference in Pisa from 18 to 20 June 2025, under the theme “Reconciling Competitiveness and Sustainability in the Agri-food System: The Role of Knowledge and Innovation.”

In today’s climate of accelerating environmental crises, geopolitical shifts, and changing market dynamics, the 2025 conference will investigate how agricultural systems can remain economically competitive while embracing sustainability. Sessions will explore technological advancements (e.g., precision agriculture, digitalisation), management strategies for resilience, investment policy challenges, and the diffusion of innovations—focusing on moving beyond zero-sum thinking to create “win-win” outcomes for both productivity and environmental goals.

The event begins with a pre-conference and Young Researchers’ Day on 18 June, followed by two full days of presentations, panels, and discussions involving leading scholars, policymakers, and practitioners. It is co-organised by the University of Pisa alongside partners including the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS) and the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), with awards recognising outstanding contributions.

The call for papers is now open, with submissions accepted in English until February (contributed papers) and March (organized sessions, panels, pitches), all subject to peer review. The conference invites contributions across agricultural economics, policy analysis, sociology, and innovation studies, particularly with regional insights from Europe, Central Asia, and China.
